See a sample brief (fictional policy, not a real customer)
- Every point cites the page and clause.
- Quotes are checked against your upload, and the brief shows how many were found.
- Refunded automatically if the file is not a policy, or the brief is not delivered in 30 minutes.
Explains your document. Not insurance or legal advice. Nothing sold after you buy.
How it works
- Find your policy. Your declarations page is the minimum; a PDF with the policy form and endorsements gives more answers. Not sure where it is? See where to find your policy below.
- Upload it and pay. Choose your file, enter your email, and pay $19 plus sales tax at checkout.
- Get your brief in about two minutes. A web page and a PDF, emailed to you. Every point cites the page and clause, and the brief says so when something isn't in your upload.
The seven storm answers
Each one describes what your document says. None is a verdict on a claim.
- Your hail deductible, in dollars. If your policy says 2%, 2% of what? The math is shown from the figures printed in your policy.
- How your policy pays for the roof. Replacement cost or actual cash value, any age-based schedule, any holdback, quoted from your policy.
- Storm limits and exclusions. Cosmetic damage, matching, wind-driven rain, fences and outbuildings, building-code upgrades: what your policy says about each.
- Every deadline in your policy. Reporting the loss, finishing repairs, proof of loss, the time limit to sue, wherever they appear.
- Extra costs your policy mentions. Living expenses, debris and tree removal, emergency repairs.
- Key terms, in your policy's own words. Where the policy defines a term, you see that definition.
- Questions for your agent. Built from what is unclear or missing in your upload, ready to forward.
Why these questions matter, as examples only: 2% of a $300,000 dwelling limit is $6,000, and a 2% wind and hail deductible is common in Texas (United Policyholders, April 2026). In a Texas Department of Insurance example, a $10,000 roof with a $4,000 deductible pays $6,000 at replacement cost, and a 20-year-old roof paid at actual cash value can pay $0. Those are examples, not statements about your policy.
You get a web page and a PDF. Forward them to a spouse, a lender or your agent.
What the brief does not do
- It does not tell you whether to file a claim, or whether your roof is damaged.
- It does not say what a claim would pay, or what to say to an adjuster or insurer.
- It does not recommend or contact a contractor, inspect your roof, or estimate repair costs.
- It does not compare two policies side by side.
- It cannot change or shop your coverage. Only your agent or insurer can.
- It is a one-time document, not a chat.
- It is not insurance or legal advice. It explains the document you uploaded; your policy controls.

SAMPLE: fictional policy. Not a real customer. This sample was built from a made-up policy so you can see the layout, the citations and the dollar math. Your brief is built from your own upload and will differ. Look for three things: the deductible shown in dollars with the arithmetic, a quote with its page, and a note about something that isn't in the upload.
Quotes checked in the sample: 51 of 51 found in the sample's upload.

Why not just use a free chatbot?
You can. A careful person with a free chatbot can get part of the way.
A chatbot may be enough if you have one narrow question and a clean declarations page you can read yourself, if you want back-and-forth conversation, or if you would rather not upload your policy anywhere.
The brief is for you if you would rather not write the questions and want:
- The same seven storm answers every time, so nothing is skipped because you didn't think to ask.
- Every statement cited to the page and clause.
- Quoted clauses checked against your upload, with the count shown. "Checked" means the quoted words were found in your document; your policy still controls.
- The dollar math shown, using only figures printed in your policy.
- A PDF and a web link you can forward, and nothing sold after you buy.
If you only need one answer, a free tool may be the better choice.
Where to find your policy in about five minutes
- Your insurance company's app or website (look for "documents" or "policy").
- Your agent's portal, if you have one.
- An email from your insurer or agent with a title like "policy documents" or "renewal."
- Your closing or escrow packet, if you bought recently.
- Paper copies in your files.
What to look for: the declarations page is the summary of your limits and deductibles. The policy form is the long document. Endorsements are extra forms that change the policy, and they are often where roof payment rules live. The declarations page is enough to start; more pages give more answers.
Can't find any of it? Ask your agent or insurer: "Could you send me my full homeowners policy as a PDF, including the declarations page and all endorsements?" Come back when it arrives. On your phone with the policy on your computer? Open this page on the computer.
Upload your policy, not a claim letter or an estimate. A file that is not a policy is refunded automatically.
Price and guarantees
$19 plus sales tax, one time. Stripe collects the tax for your location and handles your payment.
- If what you upload is not a homeowners policy, you are refunded automatically and told why.
- If your brief is not delivered within 30 minutes of payment, you are refunded automatically.
- Refunds return the full amount, including tax.
- For any other problem with a brief, email help@decodemypolicy.com and we will review it.
These guarantees are about the product. They are not about any claim or its result.
What happens to your file
Your upload is read by Anthropic's Claude to write your brief. It is never used for training. The uploaded file is deleted from our server 24 hours after delivery. The working notes our system makes from it are deleted 90 days after your order. We keep the finished brief so your link keeps working; ask us and we will delete it. Payments are handled by Stripe. Nothing you upload or enter is shared with any roofing business.
Not ready to share the whole policy? The declarations page is enough to start.
Who built this
DecodeMyPolicy is built by Kaden Hill in Texas. Kaden also runs Hail Proof Report, a free hail-history tool, and works at Micah Hill Roofing & Restoration, a company whose owner he is related to. DecodeMyPolicy is separate. It does not sell roofing, the brief contains no roofing or insurance offer, and nothing is sold after you buy.
New this month. No customer reviews yet. Before you pay, you can check the sample brief, the Texas guide and the refund terms above.
Questions
What do I upload?
Your homeowners policy as a PDF, or photos of the pages. The declarations page is the
minimum; the policy form and endorsements make the brief much stronger. Up to 25 MB.
Is this insurance advice?
No. The brief explains what your own document says, with the page and clause for
each point. It does not say whether you have damage or whether to file a claim. Your policy and your insurer's decisions
control.
How are the quotes and numbers checked?
Every quoted clause is checked against the text of your upload, and
the brief shows how many were found. Numbers are computed only from figures printed in your policy, with the math shown.
An automated system can still make mistakes, so confirm anything you plan to rely on with your agent.
I only have the declarations page. Is that enough?
It is enough to start. The brief reports what is printed
there, such as deductibles and limits, and says what isn't in your upload. Roof payment rules and storm exclusions are
often in the policy form and endorsements, so adding those makes the brief stronger. Your agent or insurer can send
them.
Will it tell me whether to file a claim, or what a claim is worth?
No, on purpose. It explains your document
and gives you questions for your agent. Your insurance company or agent can answer claim questions. The Texas Department
of Insurance Help Line is 800-252-3439.
I already filed a claim. Can it help?
It explains your policy's own terms, including the deductible math and
the deadlines written into it. It does not look at your claim, estimate or insurer letters, and it can't tell you what to
do next. Upload the policy, not a claim letter.
Is it a roofing company's funnel?
No. Kaden Hill built it and also works at Micah Hill Roofing &
Restoration, whose owner he is related to. DecodeMyPolicy doesn't sell roofing, the brief has no roofing or insurance
offer, and nothing you upload or enter is shared with any roofing business.
What if the file is not a policy, or the brief doesn't arrive?
If the file is not a policy, you are refunded
automatically and told why. If your brief isn't delivered within 30 minutes of payment, you are refunded automatically.
For any other problem, email help@decodemypolicy.com. Check your spam folder first.
Know your hail deductible in dollars, and how your roof is paid.
Upload your policy and get your brief in about two minutes. $19 plus sales tax. Refunded automatically if the file is not a policy, or the brief isn't delivered within 30 minutes.
It explains your document. It does not tell you whether to file a claim.
